Support for managing health and safety from the provision of subject specific assessment and training to formulation of policy and procedure documentation
Employers have a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of their employees at work. For non-domestic premises this also applies to people who simply use the premises. The scope of health and safety issues, regulation and guidance continues to broaden into all aspects, from pavements to complex machinery. Many issues are controlled by a common sense approach but regardless of the perceived level of risk, health and safety requires control and the consequences of failure can be severe.
Our health & safety related services include:

Where to start?
For many situations such as small offices, retail premises and similar, the requirements are often quite straightforward. There are good resources from the Health and Safety Executive such as their COSHH Essentials Page (link http://www.hse.gov.uk/coshh/essentials/index.htm) and information sheets available to self-deliver the risk assessment and control arrangements. Where there is greater complexity, or time and resource do not permit, First Environment can provide support for a single aspect or across a broad range of topics.
Our site walk through survey is a popular starting point. A member of our consultant team will walk the building or process to identify items requiring assessment. Current controls can then be reviewed and a prioritised programme of monitoring and assessment works planned to address any gaps.
